Responsible Travel

Art Safari endeavours to follow eco-tourism guidelines in its choice of lodges and its operation.

Economy & Employment - Every night you stay in Africa you contribute to the income of at least 25 African people, even before you have bought any souvenirs directly from the makers. Everyday you spend in the country you help the economy and stability of the tourism industry, one of the largest employment sectors.

Carbon Neutralisation - We undertake to plant three indigenous trees per guest to counteract the air pollution caused by your flight to Africa (you can add more trees at £10 each if you would like to). The trees will be planted on Mulanje Mountain in Malawi through the Mulanje Conservation Trust.

Artist in Residence - We are delighted to invite a local artist to accompany each group at various times throughout the safari. This is always a wonderful opportunity to share ideas and stories.

Fund raising for Malawian Orphans - Urban Fox have recently published Art Safari Sketchbook, a book of words and sketches by people who have been inspired on their Art Safari in Africa - Malawi, Zambia and Kenya.  The book contains diary extracts, poems, thoughts and quotations as well as black and white drawings straight from some very well-travelled sketchbooks. This is a fund-raising book for an orphan day centre in Malawi, set up by a guide called Danger.  We hope to build a classroom & day centre, with kitchen and ablutions as well as supporting the existing programme which feeds and provides care for children left without parents in the Ulongwe area near Liwonde National Park.
